10 inch Lenovo Thinkpad Mini 10 might be available very soon

Numerous rumors on a 10 inch Lenovo Thinkpad mini laptop have been around in the last months.

And now there’s another one that makes me think this device is actually closer than we might think.

According to a guy in Australia, a bunch of 10 inch Thinkpads were spotted by him in his school.

He was certain those were not the 11.6 inch X100e models, as they came with a thick bezel display and “Mini 10″ written on the case.

Not sure how reliable this source is, but if it is, this new Lenovo shouldn’t be a lot more compact than the 11.6 inch version, but should offer Intel Atom hardware, better battery life and a more affordable price tag.

So, if such devices are indeed available in Australian schools, we should find out more details on them very soon. And i must say I’m very excited by the idea of having a 10 inch Lenovo Thinkpad. Their trackpad/trackball combo is something i really miss from my old IBM i had many years ago. Not to mention the amazing build quality and reliability…

Stay tuned, more on this Lenovo Mini 10 will be published soon.

Sorry about this, but I stumbled over this article.

The guy from Australia who says that he saw students carrying around the Lenovo Mini 10 is right.

In Australia, the government is giving away laptops to all high-school students in Year 9. And guess what laptop they’ve received ..?

  • William

    Hello.
I am in year 9 and i have received this Lenovo Thinkpad Mini 10 from my school. I’ll give you some tech specs if your intrested

10 inch screen with a screen resolution of 1280×720.
    Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit
    2 GB of RAM
    Intel Atom 1.66 GHz
    A Webcam
Battery that lasts about 6 hours.
about 120 GB SATA Hard drive.
    3 USB 2.0 port
    SD card reader
    LAN port
    VGA port
    Headphone jack

I wrote this comment on the Mini 10. It is not that bad but it takes an age to load any adobe program and iTunes.

What the cheeky DET can do is track the laptop at any time and if it has travelled interstate or internationally they can report it as stolen and ‘brick it’ (Make it unuseable).

It is a shame to see lots of people not take care of them by slaming them shut, not placing them in their cases to protect them, Try to hack them and i saw someone the other day throw one on the floor then the screen surround seperated then it wouldn’t boot into windows.

If there are any more questions send them up in a follow up comment please.

um the laptops are good but some of them are stuffed up, and I’m writing on the 2009 lenovo laptops the yr9s received which are better than the lenovo think pad mini 10

  • http://www.lenovo.com sara

oh yeah and we never get to choose what colors we want, all i know is that the 2011 yr9 laptops are green and way better than 2010′s laptops.

  • Jack

hey i have got a lenovo mini 10 and when i turn it on it only displays the thinkpad screen and starts beeping, nothing else just that, anyone no how to fix it?

  • William

    RE: Jack
I don’t know what is going on. My thinkpad displays a NSW DET logo and so does my cousins so it might be a BIOS problem. You probably don’t know what that is but your computer administrator might know. Mine doesn’t. The administrator at our school takes your laptop away for one week and regardless of the problem he will delete everything you have.

    Good luck.
