12.1 inch Asus 1201HA gets oficial
There have been rumors on some new 12 inch netbooks from Asus, but today, the 12.1 inch EEE PC 1201HA finally gets official in Italy and we can say for sure we have the final specs and pictures for this device.
Fist of all, you can notice from the photos that this netbook is part of the SeaShell line and is just a little bit bigger version of the 1101HA i tested earlier. However, the bigger screen is definitely an improvement, as the HD Ready resolution on that 11.6 inch screen wasn’t well received by my eyes (i’m pretty sure the difference won’t be that visible though, but still, it’s an improvement). On the other side, the bigger dimensions allowed Asus to squeeze a full sized chiclet style keyboard on this device, one that will surely be a lot more comfortable than the old standard one.
On the inside, the 1201HA brings pretty much similar hardware as its 11.6 inch brother: the 1.3 GHz Z520 CPU and GMA 500 graphics, but with 2 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard-drive (completed by 500 GB of online storage space via Asus WebStorage). Bluetooth, Wi-fi N, 3xUSB, all these are present too. Also, the same 6 Cell battery was kept by Asus and can ensure up to 8 hours of life for this 12.1 inch netbook (probably more like 6 in practice, but still a decent value considering the bigger screen and improved hardware).

The new Windows 7 OS will be the only one operating the EEE PC 1201HA, and Asus is going to offer the device in 4 different colors (black, red, blue and silver), all glossy of course ( 
).
Asus plans to sell the 1201HA for 399 euros in Europe from October 22nd. This will probably mean around 400-430 bucks in US, a decent price for an EEE PC with these features. Also, this version will be pretty soon followed by the Asus 1201N, with the more powerful Nvidia ION inside (and proper pricing).
