3D screens for netbooks – are they something we want?
I remember that a couple of months ago i had the chance to play with a 3D capable laptop from Asus and was not impressed at all. I remember i used it to play Some kind of Batman game and I couldn’t last more than 2 minutes with the glasses on. In fact, the whole 3D environment gave me quite a terrible headache (per se).
Last week though i had the chance to see a 60 inch Samsung 3D in action and it was just amazing. So 3D is definitely a technology for the future. However, i don’t think it’s suited for small screens, as the entire experience get’s better with size.
The guys at Sharp don’t seem to agree with me. They recently showcased a couple of 10 inch screens with 3D capabilities. They will be suitable for most netbooks on the market and will also enable touch-commands. However, these screens won’t require special glasses. You’ll just use them as regular displays and they’ll provide a 3D likish image. I just can’t stop wondering if they won’t induce headaches, but I’m pretty sure they will. My friend John from alltouchtablet.com says he’s seen such technology in action before on bigger displays and it’s just awful.

3D displays on netbooks don't seem quite a good idea for me
So, although the idea of having a 3D capable netbook might seem cool, I’m pretty sure that’s not something i want on my small computer. A decent standard display would be just fine. For now at least…
What do you guys think?
