A couple of video tips with the Dell Streak
Hey guys, as promised i managed to get my hands on the Dell Streak mini tablet and I’m going to give it a spin in the next days. Expect a review next week, till then I’m going to add a couple of clips presenting various aspects of this device and tips on how you can enhance your experience with the Steak.
First, I’m having problems with the keyboard on this machine. Since it integrates a Numpad as well, it is cramped. Hence typing on it is fairly difficult, even for me, and i don’t have big fingers. Luckily there are some options to replace that keyboard (the benefit of running Android), most of them Free.

Default keyboard is cramped, but you can replace it
Based on tests, the best should be SwiftKey Keyboard, and that’s the one I installed. The results? Briefly: way better. You can type easier, faster and with less typos. Plus you get a smart autosuggestion feature. More on the clip below.
Also, with a 5 inch display, you should expect the Streak to be used a lot for reading books and documents. The clip below will show you just how good it is at this job, using the default app preinstalled: Aldiko . Of course, you can get others, including Kindle for Android, that will give you access to a huge collection of books, magazines or newspapers.
Last but not least, I’ve see many of you wondering if this device is actually portable and compact enough to wear in the pocket of your jeans. The clip below proves that it will, but not on any type of jeans actually. And even so, it will be quite uncomfortable carrying it like this.
PS: I noticed i said Kindle Streak in there, it’s of course Dell Streak ![]()
That it for now. More clips will follow. I’m planning on posting about video performance, web browsing performance, a comparison with other Android powered machines and others.
Of course, if you have suggestions for clips i could shoot or questions/comments, please leave a reply and I’ll give it my best to help.
