A whole series on ION from Samsung: N510 was the first, 508 and 511 will follow

We already told you that Samsung is planing an Nvidia Ion netbook for this fall , the Samsung N510 . It should come to the US in September for around $599 and will have a 11.6″ screen, 1 GB of RAM, 160 Gb hard-drive , Intel Atom N280 and Nvidia 8400 graphics.

But, according to netbookchoice.com,  this is only the first Samy built on the Ion platform, as there are more to come in the near future: the N511, with similar specs but a better CPU (perhaps one from the new Pine Trail series) and the N508, a smaller version, with a 10″ screen .

But using the Ion platform on netbooks means increased price tags. And i for one am not sure at all if the increased graphic performance is worth paying 20-25% more. And i doubt there’s a big enough market for such devices right now. But these are just suppositions and the folks from Samsung must know better, unless they wouldn’t have planned 3 Ion powered devices in such a short period of time, right?
