Acer Aspire One 532G – PineTrail netbook with Nvidia’s Ion 2 and Optimus
Today at Mobile World Congress Acer were the first ever to announce a netbook built on the new Intel PineTrail platform that integrates the latest in terms of graphics from Nvidia, Ion with Optimus management system. And it’s of course the Ion 2 we’re talking about there. Nvidia hasn’t officially announced the specs of their ION 2 yet, but we can only assume this is the platform used here (as it definitely can’t be the old ION, because of the new CPUs ).
On the outside, the new Acer AO543G will be identical to Acer’s already existing 10 inch netbooks line, the AO532H. That’s because all the goodies will be inside. The official specs for this new mini laptop look like this:
- 10-Inch display (1024 x 600 px resolution)
- Atom N450 processor
- Intel GMA 3150 graphics + Nvidia ION graphics (switchable via Optimus)
- 2GB RAM
- 320GB HDD
- 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi (and probably no Bluetooth)
- 10 hours autonomy
- optional integrated 3G module
So, this netbook will play 1080p content , HD flash clips and some modern 3D games quite nicely, while still being able to provide a very good battery life when not performing “heavy-duty” activities.
That’s it for now. Sasha from netbooknews.de has a hands on video off the little device (check it out below, with more details on his site – in German).
Also, the folks and Netbookitalia.it managed to grab one of these Acer Aspire One 532G netbooks and posted their own preview (in Italian. )
More about this on Netbooked, Gizmodo and in future updates, so stay tuned.
