Acer Aspire One D257 hands on video at MWC

This 10 inch netbook appeared on the radar a few days ago, with very little info attached to it. We knew that it was very thin, less than an inch thick, and that is said to boot from both Windows and Android.

More, the screen is said to be able to tilt back 180 degrees (hopefully it’s antiglare) and that the battery can run for about 8 hours on a single charge.

At the time, we had no info on the specs or other details, but now we’ve caught the shadowy 10 inch netbook at MWC and hopefully we’ll be able to put some things straight.

The netbook comes with a similar keyboard in comparison with previous Aspire One models, while the trackpad was a little modified and comes in a little cavern of its own, together with a mouse button.

Actually, in the video bellow, we put the new design versus the old one and you can see the differences a lot better, even if it’s nothing to blow you away.

The exterior is as glossy as before, while the back comes with some new vents, which span the entire length of the device. Also, there’s easier access to the hardware in order to upgrade your RAM, HDD and so on. Speaking of specs, apparently the netbook will be powered by Intel Atom processors, both single core and dual core versions. The single core versions are N455 and N475, while on the dual core front you’ll be able to choose between N550 or N570. RAM will probably come with standard 1 GB, but you’ll be able to upgrade to 2 easily.

The device weights around 2.2 pounds with the 6 cell battery on, so it’s a pretty good deal in terms of mobility. The light netbook will come with Windows 7 Starter and you’ll be able to install also Android for dual boot. There’s WiFi and blue tooth on board, as well as standard ports like USB or SD slot. The netbook will come for a price similar to the previous one in the series, so somewhere around $375, while the release date is still unknown.
