Acer Iconia Tab A100 caught on hands-on video at MWC
Acer came up with three brand new tablets during MWC, two running Android and one cruising on Windows 7. The A100 is one of the first two, namely the 7 inch version of the A500, which we presented to you yesterday in a hands on video from the event in Barcelona. The 7 inch standard is in need of a champion these days, considering that Samsung will ditch doing 7 inch tablets (at least for a while).
The A100 runs on Android 3.0 and is powered by a Tegra 2 processor, which is a must have chip for most Honeycomb tablets released or teased these days. The A100 has a 7 inch screen, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. The tablet can play 1080p clips, but the best thing to do is output it to a HD TV via the HDMI port it comes with. Flash 10.1 is supported and 10.2 might follow soon and you can also play HD arcade games and some 3D online games, as Acer taunts us. But here it is, the Iconia Tab A100, caught on video at MWC.
The slate has a glossy plastic finish on the back, which seems to scratch easily, so maybe you’ll go for a sleeve too. For reasons unknown, companies showcase their 3.0 tablets with 2.2 installed, which is a little worrying because the new OS is still not optimized for newer tablets.
So we were not able to see how Honeycomb acts on this one, but from the hardware specs it should run just fine. On the sides of the device you get lots of buttons and ports, like volume control, power button, mini USB and mini HDMI ports, head phone jack and a few more.

You also get 2 cameras, one in front, one in the back, WiFi, blue tooth and 3G, as well as access to Acer’s clear.fi media sharing platfom. The A100 and the bigger version, the A500, are due to arrive sometime in April, but there’s no detail about the first regions to get it or pricing. Hands on video below.
