Archos 13 laptop with Dual-Core Atom inside

Archos are prepping a quite interesting 13.3 inch laptop. The name is pretty suggestive, Archos 13 (code name A13PS), but what makes it really special is the fact that it will bring a dual-core ATOM processor, the D510, a CPU found at the moment in nettops.

This should allow this computer to offer decent performance while keeping costs low. However, it won’t be able to compete with ULV based notebooks and graphics capabilities of the GMA 3150 are way poorer than those of the GMA 4500 (found on those ULV equipped devices).

Intel announced a couple of days ago they’re working on a new dual-core PineTrail processor specially made for netbooks, one that will be less energy hungry than the D510 . Thus, Archos’s initiative is kind fo weird, if not rushed.

More details should be available soon, as the 13 should be available in April. No word on price, but expect it to be hefty, the previous Archos 13 started from around $800 .
