Aspire One D250 – the Acer netbook is now HD ready

I for one don’t like that most netbooks have limited working surface, given by the small screen dimensions combined with a small resolution. As hardware inside these mini laptops advances, we’re going to see more and more netbooks with bigger resolutions. And the Acer Aspire One D250 is one of them.

In fact, this Aspire D250 is an improved version of the regular Aspire One with the same name , that replaces the old 10.1″ screen and 1024 x 600 px resolution with a newer one that has a higher res: 1280×720 px. Thus, the new screen is HD ready and fully compatible with the 720p standard.

The hardware inside remained the same, but 720p movies should not pose any problem though. You get the standard configuration with Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive.  Everything else remained the same, even the OS delivered (Windows XP SP3) and the 6 cell battery. The new screen should have a tight influence on battery life though, but not a significant one.

Aspire One 250 - bigger resolution is a great add-on

Acer is expected to start shipping the Aspire D250 in the US from the beginning of the next month and the price tag will be somewhere around $410. And it’s true there’s no big difference between this Aspire D250 and the older version , but that increased resolution is surely a welcomed add-on.
