Asus 1005PE with a matte case can now be yours
Be happy, there’s a new Asus in town, part fo the Seashell line, and this time finally one with a proper matte case: the EEE PC 1005PE-PU27 .
In fact, the Asus 1005PE is one of the best 10 inch mini laptops available on the market. The glossy cover offered by the previous models were perhaps its main big con. And now it’s solved.
The new netbook from Asus is in fact the same on any aspect as before, except it now boosts this soft-touch matte lid. That means we don’t have a textured finish like on the Asus 1001P, but a plain and soft one that should feel even better to touch. So bye bye scratches and smudges and hello reliability and better grip. Unfortunately, only the outside casing was changes, inside you get the same glossy plastic on the palm rest and display’s bezel. Still, this is an improvement nonetheless, one that would be greatly appreciated.
New matte Asus 1005PE
For now the Asus 1005PE-PU27 is available in black only. Comes with a list price of around 390 bucks, but you can get it from Amazon for only $354 , with Free Shipping included.
For this kind of money you’ll get the 1.66 GHz N450 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 250 GB storage (+ 500 GB online), Wi-Fi N + Bluetooth and a 6 Cell high capacity battery capable of up to 14 hours in autonomy (more like 11 in real life tests). So pretty nice ay?
Finally Asus bring a true competitor to the matte Toshiba NB305 so expect the new 1005PE EEE PC to top bestsellers lists pretty soon, at least in the US.
