Asus 1015B with AMD inside – finally a new powerful 10 incher
After telling you about Asus’ plan of bringing a 12 incher (the EEE PC 1215B) with AMD’s new Fusion hardware on the market, it’s now time for another goodie: a 10 incher on the same platform. And it’s going to be called Asus EEE PC 1015B .
Now, details on this 1015B are extremely scarce, but it was spotted at CES showcased next to other similar 10 inchers, like the announced Acer Aspire One 522 .
What we know is that this 10 incher boosts the same design as the other Asus netbooks in this class, with the wide trackpad, chiclet keyboard and matte finish, plus the 10 inch 1024 x 600 px display (plus maybe an options for a HD screen as well?).
What we don’t know but we can assume is that this one will come with AMD Ontario inside, which is the line meant for low-power mobile computers, part of AMD’s Brazos architecture. So we’ll probably get the 1.2 GHz single core C-30, or even better the dual-core C-50 clocked at 1 GHz , plus 1 GB of memory, decent storage, Windows 7 Starter and nice battery life.

Ontario based Asus 1015B spotted
The good part is that the 1015B is expected to be fast. Way faster than standard 10 inchers and probably on par with the EEE PC 1015PN (plus a better price and I’d reckon, increased battery life), but even snappier in everyday apps, because of the punchier AMD processor. Not to mention graphics, where the Ontario chip should greatly outmatch the GMA 3150 on Intel’s devices and perhaps even the 8-cores ION on that 1015PN.
We’re waiting for a confirmation on this model from Asus and extra details. What matters is that the guys at Asus are not sleeping on their success and constantly working on their netbooks, keeping in touch with competition and technology changes.
More info will follow on the Asus EEE PC 1015B, so stay tuned, we’ll update once we find out anything new.
Update: The Asus 1015B is now available in the US and prices start at $289. That’s for the AMD C30 equipped version, which is less powerful than the standard C50 hardware we saw on the Toshiba Nb550D, but still should be more capable than entry level Atom equipped mini laptops.
