ASUS 1015T Eee PC – AMD 10 incher with extra performance

There are very few AMD powered 10 inch netbooks on the market right now, mainly because the Americans only recently got involved more seriously in this segment, with the launch of the AMD Nile chips. The Asus EEE PC 1015T is one of the first such devices and it looks like one worth following.

The first 1015T was displayed at Computex and Peter at Netbooked.net managed to snug some pictures of it.

On the outside, it looks exactly like the Asus 1015P/PE or 1015N series, with a nice matte cover and matte palm rest area. The chiclet keyboard and the new wider trackpad design are present too. Screen and the area around it are still glossy though.

However, the interesting part is inside. While most of the new Asus mini laptops will come with Intel hardware, this one uses an AMD one, with the AMD V105 processors, embedded ATI 4200 graphics , up to 4 GB of DDR3 memory and up to 320 GB storage space. You’ll also get good connectivity, including Wireless N and USB 3.0 as an option. Luckily, there’s a 6 cell battery too and it will come in handy, considering we already know these AMD platforms can be quite energy hungry.

All in all, it’s nice to have an alternative to the standard ATOM 10 inchers. Especially since these AMD ones are expected to offer better everyday performances and multimedia capabilities.

There’s no info on prices and availability yet for this Asus EEE PC 1015T, but stay tuned for more info.
