Asus 1101HA EEE PC – new 11.6 incher hits the stores

Although EEE PCs are already selling like fresh bread in the US, there were many waiting for the new bigger netbooks by Asus. They should rejoice now, cause the Asus EEE PC 1101HA 11.6 inches model has just reached some of the US Stores, for a retail price of $429. And it is expected to be available in the most big online depots in the next two weeks.

For those of you not knowing, this is the biggest brother of the Asus 1005HA and packs a couple of improvements:

• it uses the new Atom series CPU, a Z530 (or Z520) . Although at first look it has similar specs as the N270/N280 used on the smaller Asus netbooks, this CPU works with a new platform with an entirely different chipset, once boosted with Intel Virtualization technology and capable of better graphic performances (Intel GMA 500). All these with lower power consumption.
• has a bigger screen, 11.6″ and bigger resolution (1366×768 px)
• has 1 GB of RAM, 160 GB hard drive
• Wi-fi, Bluetooth, 1.3 mpx webcam
• 6 Cell battery

So, the bigger 11.6 EEE PC 1101HA might just become the best deal in the netbooks segment, offering a bigger workspace and better performances without sacrificing battery life and portability.

And as i said before, the price tag for the 1101HA is at the moment $429 on Newegg.com. But that’s for the less powerful version powered by the Z520 CPU (1.33 Mhz). The one with a Z530 (1.6 GHz) will probably go 10-20 bucks more.

I for one consider the price gap ain’t that big between this new version and the older 1005Ha (that currently can be found for $369). Because it is after all better. Don’t you think? Too bad they didn’t drop the glossy finish, but perhaps I’m just the only on complaining about that
