Asus 1215T EEE PC – new generation AMD inside a 12 incher

Yeap, there’s another one, another 12 inch Asus EEE PC on the market: the Asus 1215T. This one also uses and AMD powered platform, but unlike the budget Asus 1201K we saw earlier, it’s the latest generation AMD Nile. Thus, this a 12 incher with modern AMD hardware.

We have no pictures of the Asus 1215T available for now, but I would reckon it would resemble either the new 1215N, or the older 1201N (my money are on the first one). Thus, decent looks, solid build quality, good Full-Size chiclet keyboard.

What we know is that inside, we’ll get the AMD Neo K125 processor, clocked at 1.7 GHz. This is a single-core CPU and there are no details on a dual-core option. We also know this processor comes packed with support for DDR3 memory and ATI HD 4225 graphics. So the entire platform will be quite snappy, capable a decent performance in everyday tasks and even multimedia (can handle HD content and some older games), definitely better than a single-core Atom powered one.

According to the pricing policy Asus plans to adopt for this one, we might see it equipped with 1 GB of RAM and Windows 7 Starter, or 2 GB and Windows 7 Home Premium. Good connectivity and decent battery life should be expected as well, although decent on an AMD platform would mean something around 5 hours.

There’s no official word on availability and pricing for this product. However, the Asus 1215T was spotted in a German webstore for 450 euro, with 2 GB of memory, 250 GB HDD and Windows 7 Home Premium. That, if it were to come to the US, would mean around $450, maybe a little bit more. So kind of a competition for the Dual-core ION bundled Asus 1215N. But way to expensive for someone even to consider it, don’t you think?

Update: The Asus EEE PC 1215T is available in the US now and list price is set at $449. However, with competition from more powerful Asus 12 inchers like the 1215N and 1215B, you can find this one these days discounted. Best price I managed to spot for a brand new Asus 1215T is on Amazon.com, as they sell it for $349 with Shipping included.

    Not sure I understand what you meant. But if you read the post it should answer all your posts. Still, i will summarize: it comes with AMD hardware, so it is quite powerful. Can handle 10180p smoothly and some games. battery life ain’t that great, probably around 4 hours.

    Mike, after lengthy consideration I have narrowed my hut down to either the Asus 1215T ir the 1215P. With the T I can get 2GB DDR3, 320 HHD (5400) and the AMD single core 1.7GHz processer + dedicated graphics. The P comes with the Intel N550 Dual Core (1.5 Ghz) but only 1GB of DDR3, 250 GB HHD and intel GMA 1350 graphics. There is a $30.00 spread in cost with the P version less expensive. I am thinking the T is a better buy but am concerned I am giving up to much ging to a single processor vs a dual core.   I tend to run with 8-12 tabs ruming at the same time.

    Any guidance you can share?
