ASUS debuts Lamborghini external HDDs

If you already have an ASUS Lamborghini notebook, you might enjoy adding to the extravagant device one of the new external HDDs that the company recently released. Actually, the race car looking external drives would look good connected to any computer, so if you have some money to spare, you should give them a look.

The design is what we came to expect from ASUS Lamborghini products- the HDDs come in black or white and have the curves and the slick design usually seen on race cars.

There are several options to choose from. First, there are two models of USB 2.0 compatible hard disks, one with 500 GB of storage and the other one with 750 GB. Sadly, as ndevil notices, the speed is  only 5.400 rpm, which is kind of a disappointment, considering that when you look at the thing you expect the transfer speeds to match those of Lamborghini racing cars.

Normally, the snail versions are cheaper, as the 500 GB version costs $119 and the 750 GB one 20 dollars more. Well, now comes the good part. There’s also a 750 GB, USB 3.0 version, spining at 7.200 rpm. It sure sounds different and will definitely satisfy power users, looking to enjoy the 10 times faster speeds you get with USB 3.0.

As for now, there’s no suggested price for the 3.0 version, but you might expect something in the region of $200. All versions come with ASUS’s FlexSave file management, which will offer a very functional user interface, capacity indicator bar, energy savvy idle mode and a one click auto back up scheme.

There’s no release date for these devices, but they’ll probably get a massive marketing make over and might come together with other Asus Lamborghini merchandise further down the road.
