Asus Eee Note tablet is now official
It’s not like we haven’t seen this coming, so here it goes: we heard from blogeee.net that Asus formally announced the Eee Note EA800. It is a multipurpose, Linux powered tablet that can be used as a notepad, photo and video camera, e-reader and an all round educational tool.
Its features primarily recommend it to students or people that are constantly taking notes and reading, as it can store up to 10.000 books (yes, comics are books too). The ultralight tablet also supports sketching and drawing with the stylus thanks to the Wacom technology.
The display is a 8 inch, XGA, 768×1024, 64 grayscale, anti glare touchscreen, that supports 256 levels of pressure and a 2540dpi resolution.
Images appear in black and white in order to mimic a book page and the non back lit display is visible even in broad daylight. The 4GB internal memory can store 10.000 ebooks or 20.000 hand notes, but you can increase the memory up to 16 GB by using the external Micro SD Card slot.

The integrated 2 MP camera and voice recorder can record other types of materials, like slide shows or lectures, so students can deal with almost all of their learning using only the Eee Note. The device has built in Wi-fi and also a version of EverNote, a software dedicated for taking notes and organizing files, but it’s probably the free and limited version. There’s also an audio jack and buttons for home, page turn and five button function. The battery should last for 13.5 hours with Wi-fi off, hours 10 with it on and the stand by time is 10 days.
Asus Eee Note is really easy to carry around, as it weights only 520 grams and the dimensions are 139 x 222.4 x 11 mm. The device supports multiple formats, including PDF, ePub, MP3 , JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, while txt, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx are saved in one of the supported formats when transferred.
