Asus EEE Pad ready to launch this summer
With the unexpected success seen by Apple’s iPad, more and more producers are jumping the wagon of touch tablets, and now it’s time for Asus to announce their new toy: the EEE Pad, one that will be ready to enter the market this summer.
In fact, the Asus EEE Pad will probably be unveiled at Computex in early June and should be ready for shipment from July.
For now, there are still few details on this gadget. In order for it to compete with the iPad, the EEE Pad should impress in terms of design and have a sparkling UI. We know that this one will be based on Android, but expectations are high. Also, the Asus device will bring some features Apple’s tablet lack, like USB ports and webcam, plus support for Adobe’s Flash technology. We however have no details on the hardware Asus is going to use to power the machine, although it is rumored to be Tegra based, but we should find more in the near future.
The EEE Pad is supposed to have a starting price of around 500 bucks, according to sources, “after bundling with carrier services”. Would this mean that it will be more expensive if you buy it without a data plan? That would be a bummer, as one of the strongest aces this device has in its hat is its price, but at 500 bucks, it’s already as expensive as the iPad.
Anyway, more details about the EEE Pad should emerge in the following weeks, so stay tuned.
