Asus Eee Pads get video comparison- Asus Slider vs Transformer
The Eee Pad Transformer and the Eee Pad Slider are two 10 inch slates from Asus, both having a keyboard. The Transformer has a docking station with a keyboard, while the Slider has a slide out keyboard. The two are similar in terms of functionality, but different in terms of concept and user experience, mostly when it comes to going from touch input to keyboard input.
Our friends from tabletbite are here with a lengthy video comparison of the two, and before we leave you to sit back and enjoy the show, we’ll quickly take you through the main highlights of the similarities and differences between the two. First off, both use the same hardware. The slates come with a dual core Tegra 2 chip, 1 GB of RAM and a minimum of 16 GB of storage. This is not only the standard setup on a Eee Pad, but virtually on any 10 inch slate running Honeycomb, including Xoom, Acer A500 and others.
Also, the two have similar ports, both boosting microSD, microHDMI and USB 2.0, with the note that the Slider has the later port it by default, while the Transformer has it on the optional docking keyboard. The two slates are also identical when it comes to connectivity, packing Bluetooth and WiFi modules, while 3G versions are not currently available.
The tablets come with a IPS multi touch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution, and while the display on the currently available Transformer was hailed by almost all critics, we can expect that the one on the Slider will basically offer the same quality. The slates come with a similar camera setup, with a 1.3 MP camera in front and a 5 MP one in the back.

The Slider and the Transformer both take you there, but on different roads
Finally, the two have the same OS, namely Android Honeycomb 3.1, and the same pre loaded apps, like MyCloud, MyNet, Polaris Office and more. As for differences, the slates are different in size and weight, as the Slider is 17.7 mm thick and 886g heavy, while the Transformer is 12.98 mm thick and 680g heavy. Of course, if you’ll add the docking station to the Transformer, you’ll have a much heavier and thicker dual piece gadget than the Slider alone.
The battery of the Transformer can go for around 8 hours on a single charge, while the Slider gets around 7 hours and a half of autonomy. Also, the docking station can add to the Transformer’s life span.
Ok, let’s cut the chitchat for now and enjoy the video comparison between the Eee Pad Slider and Transformer below. Enjoy. More details and pictures over at tabletbite.com .
