Asus EEE PC 1015PE gets official photos
The Asus EEE PC 1015PE is at the moment one of the most craved netbooks. Meant to replace the popular Asus 1005PE line, one of the most appreciated all over the world, this device was first seen at CeBIT 2010, where it promised quite a lot of improvements over the predecessor.
In terms of hardware, the EEE PC 1015PE will bring:
- Intel N450/N470 processors and also N455/N475 (with DDR3 memory support)
- 1 GB of RAM (easily upgradeable)
- 160-250 GB storage + 500 GB Asus EEE online storing space
- Wi-Fi N + Bluetooth 2.1
- 3 to 6 Cell batteries (up to 14 hours of life)
- Windows 7 Starter
So, the specs are pretty much similar to what the 1005PE offers today, except for the new processor options. However, outside, much has changed. First, the entire chassis will be matte, that including the lid, the palm rest and the area around the screen. As for the 10 inch display, this too will be matte and will offer a standard resolution (1024 x 600 px), not a HD one like the Asus EEE PC 1005PR. Besides those, we get a bigger and improved trackpad, the same top quality chiclet keyboard, an ON/OFF switch for the WebCam and maybe an USB 3.0 slot.
And, like the title says, Asus made available the official photos of the EEE PC 1015PE, and you can see some of them below (and more on Blogeee.net) .

And a bigger and improved trackpad
All in all, the Asus 1015PE looks like a winner. Keeping what’s good from the current series and improving the imperfections clients have been complaining about is a great recipe for success. And I reckon prices will remain below 400 bucks too, thus the 1015PE will surely become a bestseller from the moment it gets on the market (probably in the next months).
