Asus Eee PC 1215B gets video review
This 12 inch netbook was presented by ASUS during CES, in conjunction with a smaller, 10 inch version, which has roughly the same characteristics. Notebookitalia.it comes with a tiny video review of this netbook, and we might anticipate that this little fellow will be quite a starlet when it will finally hit the market. This is mainly because of the AMD Fusion processor it comes with, namely the Zacate E-350 dual core CPU, running at 1.66 GHZ, which comes with integrated HD graphics, which are Direct X 11 compliant.
AMD’s chips are the new hot thing on the netbook market and Asus couldn’t stay away, considering that Fusion chips are actually cheaper than the competition and the Eee series was always presented as a solution for those with less money, but in search of a good machine.
And the 1215B is fine enough, as it serves the portable credo, but thanks to the fire power we talked above, it can handle a lot of demanding computing, like HD playback and some gaming maybe, some of this thanks to the integrated Avivo HD accelerator. This won’t happen if you’ll go for the 2 GB of RAM version, or actually it won’t happen as smooth as it would if you would fill the slots with a maximum of 4 GB.
Storage wise, you can go for 250 or 320 GB of hard disk space, but there’s no word if you can throw in an SSD drive, which brings better speeds and less power consumption, but will cost significantly more.
Connectivity wise, the 1215B offers standard options like WiFi and blue tooth 3.0, while the 6 cell battery is said to last for as long as 6 hours, which is kind of the average of the category.

Anyway, if you want, you’ll probably have the opportunity to go for a bigger battery, but it might ruin the aesthetics of the netbook. The design is reminiscent of the Seashell series from Asus, having curvy lines and a general “fluid” look. To wrap it up, the color versions announced are black, red and silver, while the maximum weight doesn’t exceed 1.6 kg.
