Asus 1215N – dual-core Atom, new ION and Optimus
Asus has a new device planed for this early summer, the Asus EEE PC 1215N.
Asus 1215N - finally a 12 incher with dual-core ATOM, new ION and Optimus
As we recently found out the the Asus 1201PN will not support Nvidia’s Optimus, Asus quickly rise to assure us there will be a very similar netbook with that technology on-board, and that is the 1215N.
However, with all the negative buzz created around Asus for not making it clear earlier that the 1201PN had no Optimus, this might seem like a way to re-catch users attention. And I can tell you it worked, at least for me, especially since the new Asus 1215N will probably also bring the Atom N500 dual-core processor (this is just a rumor for now).
This device has not been officially announced by Asus, but should happen soon, as the guys at Asus are waiting to finalize drivers and solve minor software incompatibilities before taking the 1215N in stores.
All in all, we might have a good Ion powered mini-laptop by the end of the summer, and the Asus 1215N might be that one. Stay tuned for more info on it in the near future.
Update: Will be available in the US from 23rd of August the end of September according to latest sources, for a price around $500. More details soon.
