Asus EEE PC S101 – a netbook for fastidious clients

Being one of the newest members of the EEE PC family, the Asus S101 is not like the majority of the netbooks available on the market. Why? Cause it’s stylish and sophisticated, but also smart.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Asus EEE PC S101 is how thin it is: 1.8 to 2.5 cm , especially for a netbook. You’ll also notice the quality of the materials used for the case: high quality plastic + chromed parts. Aluminum is used for the palm rest and the keyboard is made from a plastic that feels and looks like metallic paint. And the hole thing does not look kitchy, but fancy. The pictures below speak for themselves here.

Although the EEE PC S101 is so thin, it has a high capacity battery (4900 mAh) that should give it a pretty long usage life (around 4 hours). Oh, and it weights just 1.1 kilos (~2 pounds). This way, the Asus S101 is a combination between style, autonomy, portability and power.

We’re going to talk next about this power. Asus EEE PC S101 packs up the following:

  • 10’2″ screen with 1024 x 600 px resolution
  • Intel Atom N270 processor
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 64 GB SSD hard drive
  • Linux operating system
  • 3 USB slots, web-cam, card reader, VGA and audio output, etc
  • integrated speakers
  • special protective cover (you’ll see it in the video below)

Asus EEE PC S101 - really looks great, ay?

So, everything is top notch. Storage capacity is a little bit low, but we have an SSD HDD though. And frankly, you don’t really need a huge drive on a netbook, especially a stylish one, do you?

Here’s a quick video look on the EEE PC S101

Overall, ASUS EEE PC S101 packs up almost everything you need in one of the best looking netbooks on the market. You can use it for web surfing, watching movies, listening to music, etc. You can even easily install Windows XP on it and it will work without a problem. Of course, all these come with a downfall: the price.

Cause the price tag for the S101 is higher than the one of an ordinary netbook: around $800. But for this amount of money you’ll get an ideal combination od design, style, portability and performance.
