Asus EEE PC T91 series – touchscreen affordable netbooks

A couple of years ago, laptops we’re expensive gadgets not everyone could afford. That changed somehow thanks to netbooks. Tablet PCs on the other hand are still expensive, but that might change too when the Assus EEE PC T91 series touchscreen netbooks will reach the market later this summer.

I’m not sure if these are the first tablet netbooks, but they’re sure the most interesting. And that’s because of the tech inside. You can find the specs for the basic model, T91, below:

  • 8,9” 1024×600 LED lit LCD (touchscreen, turnable)
  • Intel Atom Z520 CPU (single core, 1.33 GHz, 512KB L2 cache, FSB 533MHz)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 16 Gb SSD storage + SD card
  • wireless, bluetooth, webcam
  • Windows XP OS
  • baterry life up to 5 hours

As for the aspect and looks: check out the picture bellow. I might say it’s pretty impressive.

I do have some concerns regarding the quality of the touchscreen, but anyway, the T91 EEE PC will surely revolutionize the netbooks market. Especially when more applications special made for such gadgets will emerge, applications that use the touchscreen.

The T91 basic version will be available in the US from august for a price tag starting from $499 .

There will be two other versions in the T91 series, the T91GO with GPS, 3G and digital TV-Tuner and the T91A, available from late fall and equipped with Windows 7. No details on the prices for these two yet.

All in one, these tablet PCs from Asus’es EEE PC T91 series seem pretty interesting. I for one don’t see the use of the touchscreen for such a device yet, but i do like the turnable screen option. But, I’m sure they will be well received and will become a success, considering the affordable prices they have. What do you think?
