Asus EEE Reader will come very cheap, by the end of the year
E-Book readers market is getting hotter and hotter, with another big name announcing will be entering the market by the end of this year. We’re talking about Asus and their EEE Reader, that could turn quite a competition against the veterans Sony Reader or Amazon Kindle DX Reader . Especially since Asus claims their device will come with a low price tag of around $160-170 (while the cheapest versions from Sony or Amazon cost $299 at this moment). So the EEE Reader could become quite a catch.
However, at the moment we don’t know much about the specs and the aspect of the new device. Asus showed a dual screen e-book reader concept earlier this year and it’s rumored the EEE Reader will be based on that one. Having two touchscreens will be very interesting, as users will have the freedom to use one as a display and one as a virtual keyboard. Using it as a regular reader will be more difficult and uncomfortable though.

Asus EEE Reader - a dual touch display ebook reader for just 160 bucks?
Frankly i doubt the base cheap model will come with the two screens. Perhaps Asus will offer a couple of different versions, as they already used us with their EEE family, a low end cheap model with basic functions and a more advanced version with two touch displays and maybe integrated 3G module, Wi-fi, etc .
So that’s all we can tell you right now. The Asus EEE Reader is announced to be the most affordable e-book reader on the market, with a price tag of around $160, and it might hit the stores by the end of this year. Stay tuned for more info on the subject.
