Asus EEE Tablet is here, great for inking and taking notes

Besides the EEE Pads announced at Computex, Asus also unveiled first details about another device, the Asus EEE tablet .

Updates available at the end of this post !

While the EEE Pad is more a competitors for the iPad, meant for multimedia and content consumption, the EEE tablet focuses on students and mobile users. We know it offers a 2450 dpi touch screen and will probably be a resistive one, because this device will try to excel at inking and digital notes taking. That’s why Asus will most certainly included a comfortable pen(stylus) with it. However, I’m not sure whether it’s going to be an LCD color display or something else (in the picture it only seems to display Black and white content). But that’s something will find out later.

All in all, it will be a great electronic gadget you can use for taking classes or just everyday notes. Of course, you will also be able to use it as ebook-reader or multimedia player too.

We know nothing about the hardware inside or the size of the screen, but we do know it comes with USB slots, microSD and 2 Mpix camera, plus it will offer up to 10 hours battery life.

Plus, it looks very nice based on the picture above and seems even slimmer than the 10 inch EEE Pad (which is only 0.5 inch thick)

More details on the EEE tablet should be available soon. Till then, you can also read about the 10 and 12 inch EEE Pads also launched today.

Update: This device seems quite small, probably with a 7 inch display? And i still keep my doubts whether it will display color content, based on this picture below, from Chippy on Twitter.

Update2: The screen seems to be a backlight-less touchscreen LCD and will only offer black and white content, with 64 shades of gray and 0.1 seconds turning page speed, a lot faster than other ebook readers can offer (via Engadget).
