Asus T101MT to start shipping soon

One of the most awaited netbooks this year, the 10 inch Asus T101MT is finally shipping in Europe and is expected to be available in the US too from April.

As i’ve said in my review of the Asus T101 MT , this is one of the best tablet netbooks available on the market right now, especially in terms of design, ergonomics and build-quality. I reviewed the white glossy version, but it’s also going to be available in a black matte coating. The problem with the device is the overall performance level: the one tested came with the N450 CPU + 2 GB of RAM and was quite sluggish, as you can see in these videos.

But back to prices and availability. The T101MT is already sold in Germany for around 499 euros and it was announced in Italy for a similar price.

It’s also supposedly going to be available from April 12th in UK for £325, according to Netbook Choice, but this only a rumor here.

In the US it is announced to go for $499 from early April also (via Liliputing). However, for that price you’ll get some features cut off, as the device will come equipped with the N450 processor, only 1 GB of RAM, 160 GB hard-drive and Windows 7 Starter, as opposed to the versions announced for UK or Germany, with 2GB of memory, 320 GB storage and Windows 7 Home . The buffed up version will for sure be available for US too, probably for $549 or $599. I doubt too many would want poorer hardware on their T101MT, not to mention that Windows & starter offers no multi-touch support.
