Asus UX21 ultraportable – here to bite the MacBook Air
There’s a new premium ultra-portable laptop in town and it’s called the Asus UX21.
This is the first exponent of a line of fancy notebooks Asus prepares for us this year and will compete with the likes of the Apple MacBook Air and the Samsung Series 9.
The body is incredibly sleek, measuring only 17 mm in thickness and weighing 1.1 kg (2.2 pounds). And that’s more impressive when you’ll hear there’s an Intel Core i7 platform inside (that’s for the top model, lower versions will come with Core i3 or i5 processors) and not some low-power hardware. So you’ll get mobility and power from the Asus UX21.
The case is made from brushed metal and around the sides you’ll find an USB 3.0 slot and mini HDMI, but no card reader. There’s SSD storage and battery in encased . There are no details on capacity yet, but Asus announced up to 1 week standby time.

As for the OS, expect Windows on it but also a fast booting Asus proprietary OS that will allow the UX21 to boot up in a matter of seconds.
Opening the lid you’ll see a glossy display which looks like an 11.6 inch one, plus a chiclet keyboard with metallic keys and a glass trackpad.

No info on pricing for now but the Asus UX21 should hit the stores in early Fall (September). So stay tuned for updates, I’m sure we’ll hear about this one again pretty soon.
