Back to school netbooks – a convenient solution for many students
Since summer is almost over, so is holiday for most of the students and it’s time to get back to school. This period is known for the back to school sales period, and for the first time ever, netbooks seem to have something to say here. According to a recent survey, more and more students want to buy lighter and smaller laptops, with better battery life and more affordable prices, and here’s where netbooks come along.
So, as this study says, 34% of the students buying a new laptop this back-to-school season are “planning on purchasing small, lightweight netbooks and 49 percent are buying full-sized PC laptops ” . Also, 58 % of them don’t want to spend more than $750 for the new devices.
Netbooks usually run from $200 and you can get the most convenient solutions for around $350. There are also good deals on laptops from Dell or HP that start from around $300, but i wouldn’t recommend buying such a device as you’ll regularly get crappy hardware and very poor autonomy. But you can still get a good laptop for arouns 500-600 bucks. Oh and this article will tell you more about the difference between netbooks and laptops, in case you’re not familiar with the terms.
So, the big looser in this battle seems to be Apple, whose products start from around $1000 even for the “cheap” Macbooks and can get beyond $2500. Specialists expect sales on Mackbooks to drop, as the current economic situation and the recent development in the laptops segment made expensive portable devices like Apple’s laptops a luxury and not a necessity anymore. This might make Steve and his folks hurry up launching the rumored Apple netbook tablet thingie, who knows.
All in one, this early survey shows us netbooks are one of the winners in this back to school season. And as they will become better and more powerful, their popularity will grow even bigger.
