BlackBerry Playbook able to output 3D video at ease
The BlackBerry Playbook becomes more interesting by the day. We already know about it that it will come with some games from EA and that it will be able to run some Android apps, even if it comes with a different operating system, namely the in house BlackBerry OS. Besides that, the tablet is said to come for under $500, but frankly, considering what it can do, I’m afraid it will cost more when it will finally be available. But there’s more. A video we found on netbookitalia.it shows how the tablet can display 3D videos.
This is possible with or without glasses, but for a better experience you should use some glasses or use a 3D TV. In the video we can see how some images are stereoscopically rendered in full 1080p and played on a large screen TV through the HDMI port. The clip captures that blurry layer on top of objects which you get with 3D, like when you go to a 3D movie and take the glasses off. There was a picture gallery in 3D appearing on the screen in a slide show, but you can do that also with the menu and see all your items rotating in front of you before launching one.
One of the guys lurking around the TV and wearing 3D glasses said that the experience is flawless and you can actually see the speaker icon from the music app pulsating right in front of you. We’ll have to take the guy’s word, but I think he’s spot on, as almost all we’ve seen from Playbook until now is pretty awesome.

BlackBerry Playbook able to display 3D renderings
Back to the 3D demo, the content displayed on the HD TV is rendered by the CPU and GPU and you can’t actually see them on the touch screen, but I think this is possible if you want to play the 3D content locally and not export it to a TV. Anyway, the RIM rep said that the 3D function works best as a presentation tool in conjunction with a 3D TV and some glasses. Video demo just below.
