ChillTab2 tablet stand gets reviewed
Tablet using 101 states that you will eventually need a stand for your slate.
It’s all fun and games when you play around with it like you would with a huge cell phone, but what to do when you need to use both hands and be able to watch the screen at a good angle (like when playing games)? Holding it against a cereal box will not get you through the night, that’s for sure, so you’d better look around for a tablet stand.
Alltouchtablet.com came up earlier today with a review for the ChillTab 2 stand and the first impression is very good. The stand is made from aluminum, comes in black and has two mounting legs to keep the tablet. The horizontal areas of the two legs is covered in a soft foam in order to avoid scratches on the screen or bezel, but the coating doesn’t appear on the vertical edges. This might lead to accidents and you’ll have to never place the tablet in such an angle that the sensible parts of the slate would rub against the sharp edges.
Also, these edges seems slippery, so to say, and the tablet might fall over if it bends over them. The entire stand is stabilized by 4 rubber stands and there’s also an opening on the bottom part of the stand to let a charging or sync cable to pass through. The reviewer tested the stand with an iPad and bModo 12G tablets and the slates look good in both landscape and portrait mode when placed on it.

There’s also room for thicker tablets, as the horizontal part of the mounting legs extend for at least an inch. The stand is said to be solid enough to hold even violent pushes and the viewing angle is good especially for watching videos, but unfortunately there’s no adjusting the angle and the stand is to be used only on a desk. The stand is available for 42.5 CAD and is said to drop under 40 in a couple of days.
