Crunchpad – the ultra slim Tablet PC for just $300?
It’s rumored Michael Arrington (yeah, the one behind TechCrunch) has started a new company that will produce a device code named the “CrunchPad”.
Supposedly, the CrunchPad should be a device with a large touchscreen (12″) meant to offer people all around the world a cheap and comfortable way of web surfing. It will be placed somewhere between a regular netbook, the iPhone and the Kindle Reader. Cause it’s supposed to be very slim and have no keyboard, or hard-drive or anything like this. Will be powered by an Intel Atom CPU though.
According to these guys, it will have a Linux based operating system and it will automatically boot in a browser. There’s no word on connectivity options, but it should at least have have Wi-fi and 3G .

CrunchPad - web surfing device - bogus or for real?
Anyway, the entire project seems like a bogus to me, especially as it’s rumored the CrunchPad will be priced below $300. After all, this device is an impressive piece of technology and i doubt anyone could get it done for such a competitive price, if they could make it at all. At least not in the next 2-3 years.
What do you think?
