Dell’s Inspiron DUO tablet netbook gets new video teaser
Dell first flashed its Inspiron DUO back in September, at an Intel event, but there wasn’t anything else available on the matter…until now. Liliputing.com shared a video teaser of this exciting new 10 inch tablet netbook and, from what we can see, it is sure fun to use.
The video shows how you can turn from netbook into tablet mode; contrary to other similar products, there isn’t a swivel to rotate the screen, but the display actually turns 180 degrees inside the frame and becomes a tablet by pushing the screen on the keyboard. Well, it’s not something straight out from the future, but I guess it’s nice to have around.
The transition seems to be pretty smooth, but no word on how many twist and turns were made during testing as users will definitely go for numerous conversions over the day. I mean, the axis holding the screen will get giggly after a while, but it would be nice to know that it will happen later rather than sooner (and what I mean by that is a number in region of tens of thousands).
Dell will also throw in for the deal a docking station that you can use as a speaker system while in tablet mode, but also as a charger. It seems that the Inspiron DUO is an all round entertainment and work system; as the video suggests, the tablet/netbook is good for games and music and from a twist of the screen it can become your working platform. There are a bunch of apps, social media thingies, media players and touch based games (including a version of Plants Vs. Zombies) for the device, so you will spend a good deal of time in tablet mode (who’s working nowadays anyway?).
Dell Inspiron DUO uses the Intel Atom N550 dual core processor and runs on Windows 7 Home Premium, so we should probably brace ourselves for a high price tag and pray for fast approaching sales (maybe we’ll get them for Christmas, as the device launches around that time).
Check out the teaser video below.
