Dual core nettops with HD playing abilities displayed

Although not particularly a fan of nettops, I couldn’t left unmentioned the new devices announced by Zotac, with perhaps the most potent hardware based on a PineTrail architecture at the moment. They were in fact spotted at CES, among other motherboards and barebones showcased by Zotac there.

One of those barebones brought a dual core PineTrail D550 processor, alongside Nvidia’s GT218 graphics, for a small form factor system capable of easily coping with 1080P content and even some of the modern 3D games. According to some rumors , the GT218 from Nvidia is in fact the long awaited Ion2 platform, so we should see more devices with PineTrail Atoms and such graphic solution in the near future. Such barebones should be available from March for prices of around $300.

I for one am curios on the performances of the ensemble and its thermal properties. Because i’m pretty sure we’ll also find such hardware in netbooks in the next months and i’m wondering about the autonomy we could expect from such devices.
