Asus Eee Pad EP121 and Eee Pad EP101TC unveiled
One of the most expected attractions from this year’s Computex show in Taipei were the Asus tablets. Finally we have some details about them. There are going to be two Pads available, the Eee Pad EP121 and Eee Pad EP101TC, plus an EEE Tablet meant for sketching and taking notes. Let’s see what we know about the Pads.
Updates available at the bottom of the post.
First, the Asus EEE Pad EP101TC will come with a 10 inch display (resolution unknown for now) and will weigh around 675 grams (1.5 pounds). Plus, will be pretty thin, measuring only 12.2mm (0.5 inch) in its thickest point. The entire system will probably be Atom based and will run Windows Embedded Compact 7 operating system, which promises to fully integrate with other Windows OSs and focus on using Cloud services and applications.

The Asus EEE Pad EP121 will be slightly bigger, with a 12 inch display and will be built on Intel Core 2 Duo architecture (ULV CPUs – hopefully dual-core SU7300 - and 4500M graphics). Windows 7 Home Premium will be used as operating system and we should expect some smart touch-skin over it for everyday applications. All these with an announced battery life of 10 hours, which is a lot considering this device will pack some power and will be able to run nearly all kind of applications, including HD content and some modern games.
And, if you consider the 12 inch tablet too big to hold in your hands all day long, Asus plans to offer a docking station with keyboard for it, so you can easily use the EEE Pad EP121 on your desk if you want to.

Update: Also see the hands-on video below from Engadget, with details on the docking station available for the 12 inch EEE Pad and a preview of the 10 inch tablet (which will probably be based on Tegra).
Update2: These EEE Pads will come with starting prices of $399 and $499, but unfortunately will only be available from the first quarter of 2011.
Both these devices looks interesting and sound promising. More details should be available soon, so stay tuned, we’ll update once we know more.
