Fancy and ultra-light MSI Wind U160 now available in the US
One of the first 10 inch netbooks i came in contact with was a MSI Wind U100 and the little device turned me from a “nonbeliever” into a “netbooks advocate” in just a couple of days.
Years have passed and MSI’s products got even better. They too launched their own lines of PineTrail devices with new looks and extra features, and now one of the most expected of their new devices can be pre-ordered is shipping in the US: The MSI Wind U160.
Specs are pretty standard: 1.66 GHz N450 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 250 GB HDD, Wi-fi N+ Bluetooth, 6 Cell battery (up to 15 hours battery life), 1.3 MPx camera and WebCam. Plus, you get the solid build, nice looks (although the case and display are glossy) and ergonomic chiclet keyboard that seems to have become standard amongst premium mainstream netbooks.

All these in a device that only weighs 2.4 pounds, making it one of the lightest in the 10 inch class. And once again i have to notice that stellar 15 hours battery life, that promises to be even better than what the Asus 1005PE can offer.
MSI Wind U160 is available in two distinct colors:
- Jet Black – Wind U160-006US
- Fancy Gold – Wind U160-007US
For now, you can only preorder the device, price being $379, 10 bucks above the 1005PE but $20 cheaper than Toshiba’s NB305. There’s no exact info on when will it start shipping, but expect this to happen in the next couple of weeks.
Update: As of today, March 6th 2010, the MSI Wind U160 is shipping from Amazon via the link above and can be yours in a matter of days. There’s also Free shipping included.
