Hands on video with Acer’s Aspire TimelineX 3830T/4830T/5830T line
Acer introduced a couple of new devices during CeBIT, one of them being the TimelineX line of notebooks. The models you’ll hear about a lot in the next interval are the 3830T, 4830T and 5830T, and now we have a video with the devices, courtesy of notebookitalia.it. The notebooks come with a design philosophy called Ethos, which in fact resembles some other portable computers from Acer.
That means you get smoother lines and some curved edges, but the notebooks keep that industrial look on the outside we’ve seen before from Acer. You get a chiclet keyboard instead of the old FineTop finish, while the palm rest and and the lid are made from opaque plastic and come in a Ice Blu coloring. The area under the keyboard comes with a silver finish, while the edge around the screen is black, so you have a good contrast.
Moving on to the technical details, you should know that the 3830T and 4830T come with Intel Sandy Bridge processors. You get 3-4 GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 500 GB of disk space and a Nvidia Gforce 540M GT video card, which comes with 2 GB of dedicated memory (I think this is a luxury version, as entry level will probably come with Intel GMA graphics). The three versions come with different screen sizes, but the same 1366 x 768 resolution; 3830T has a 13.3 inch display, 4830T has a 14 inch screen, while the 5830T comes with a rather large 15.6 screen.

Additional features include a DVD drive, WiFi, Dolby speakers, card reader, HDMI output, VGA, USB 2.0 and 3.0, Windows 7 Premium and a 9 hour autonomy for the battery. For now, all we know about these laptops is that they will be available in Europe around April, but there’s no word about how much these devices might cost. Short presentation videos below.
