Hanvon TouchPad BC10C reviewed – now that’s a cool tablet
Ok, i’m impressed. The Hanvon TouchPad BC10C is the first of these touch-tablets that really impresses me. There were some details on this tablet before, but now JKK offers a review of the device: and like i said, after watching it, I can say it’s a pretty cool slate. Has its faults, but is by far the best in terms of performances I’ve seen so far.
You’ll find the video review below. For now, here are the specs for this Hanvon BC10C gadget:
- 10 inch capacitive multi-touch display (1024 x 600 px)
- Intel ULV743 processor (1.3 GHz) + GMA 4500
- up to 320 GB hard-drive
- 2 GB of RAM (up to 4)
- Webcam, Card reader, 2x USB, mini HDMI out, stereo speakers and mic
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- 253mm x 168 mm x 18.4 mm and only 980g (2.1 lbs)
There’s nothing you can ask more actually, this hardware is better than you’ll find even on a standard 10 netbook, yet alone a touch tablet.
And it shows its power during everyday use. As you can see in the video, this gadget is quite snappy and you can even multitask without having to wait seconds for the system to asnwer your commands (unlike what I’ve experienced on the Asus T101MT i tested earlier). Browsing, HD video content, Flash clips on YouTube and even games, none of these will be a match for the might of the Hanvon tablet.

Hanvon tablet - a quite powerful 10 incher slate
Plus, you get the capacitive screen which is a lot more responsive than a resistive one, although using it for handwriting would require buying a special capacitive stylus.
Check out the video below for more info:
Of course, as expected, having such hardware in a compact machine translates in 2 inconvenients:
- battery life will be poor (around 3.5 hours tops)
- prices will be quite hefty
For now, all we know is that Hanvon will bring the TouchPad BC10C in Asia on March 25th and it will cost the equivalent of $877 . We should expect it to be cheaper in the US though if it plans to have any chance competing with the likes of the new Apple iPad or HP Slate.
All in all, this is the snappiest and coolest touch tablet I’ve seen so far. However, Hanvon is (at least for me) and unknown company and not having a strong brand behind will surely affect its popularity.
The good thing is that it proves that capable slates can be made, and with affordable price tags. So Lenovo, Asus, Sony or Dell, let’s see your moves now.
