How much does Apple’s iPad actually cost

I remember the same endless articles were posted when Apple presented the iPhone a couple of years ago, about how much does the components inside the device cost. Now it’s the same for the iPad, and although i don’t endorse such posts, i thought you folks might be interested in the subject.

Thus, in the picture below you can see how much does production and pieces cost for each of the available iPads. Check it out for more details.

As you can see, when comparing the numbers, Apple does quite some profit with the iPad. Frankly, there are many other costs that are not there in the table: transportation and marketing are just some of them. But in the end, kudos for them for managing to sell their products for those buffed prices, it’s after all our fault, the buyers, that we crave for their fancy products and are willing to pay their premium prices. And we do, hence Apple’s latest profit report.

However, there’s also a good thing we can learn from this post: if production costs for such a touch-tablet is around $250, this means other producers will launch similar products with much more attractive price tags. Probably somewhere around $350 or $300 if they’ll manage to squeeze down costs even more.

After all, if the cheapest iPad is $499, I’m pretty sure Acer or Asus can have something good for half that price, don’t you think?
