HP Mini 311 now gets official
Although there were rumors regarding the new 11.6 inch netbook from HP, the Mini 311, it’s only now that everything gets official.
The new HP mini will bring the Nvidia Ion LE platform, with an Intel ATOM N270 CPU and all the other standard features. The Windows XP equipped versions will be available starting September 23rd and will come with 1 GB of RAM, 160 GB hard-drive, 802.11 b/g wireless, HDMI output, card reader, a 6 Cell battery, etc. Prices will start from $399.
The Windows 7 version will only be available one month later, from October 22nd and we might see some buffed up specs for it as well, along with an increased price.
In terms of looks, the device is pretty neat and will come in several different colors. Weight could be a problem though, as with 3.22 pounds, the Mini 311 is not actually Mini.
It’s kind of odd however that the HP Mini 311, while being a 11.6″ netbook, only comes with a 92% keyboard, smaller than what some 10 inch devices have to offer. And that reminds me of the keyboard on the other HP Minis i tested, and doesn’t bring back too good memories.

HP Mini 311 - neat looking 11.6 inch netbook
Still, the HP Mini 311 announces to be quite a competitor in the 11.6 inch netbooks segment, being one of the cheapest and most powerful yet announced, thanks to the Nvidia Ion LE platform inside. Of course, there are other devices better equiped, but they won’t for sure start from $399. So the HP Mini 311 might be well worth our attention.
