Kensington iPad case with Bluetooth keyboard- cheap solution for those looking for a multipurpose case and a keyboard
The Kensington iPad case with Bluetooth keyboard is a case with some additional features, which might suit you very good if you tend to use your iPad in other ways than the traditional touch based way all day long.
And, of course, I’m referring to the blue tooth keyboard which comes with the case.
You might ask why is there a need for a blue tooth keyboard for a device with a capacitive touchscreen. But there are a number of situations when you definitely need one, like if you have to write an essay or want to do some more desktop style work.
But let’s start with the case. You should know that it’s not made from real leather, but synthetics. Yep, real is better, of course, but usually it costs more and some of the synthetic materials used in cases are pretty tough these days. For this, we’ll have to take Kensington’s word, which usually delivers pretty good stuff.
The case is rather slim and has a sturdy finish- the cover is really difficult to bend and looks like it can take quite a few falls.

The book cover design looks very good and the actual cover is very tough
The stitching also looks pretty well, as the wires in it are not moving, neither are easy to break. Looks wise, the case seems like a iPad leather case from a distance and the black paint ads some class to it. It has the classic book design and it has a certain elegance, which might turn some heads (and besides, nobody has to know it’s not real leather, right?
).
The inside of the case has a very soft finish, meaning the screen will not get scratched or something from too many uses. It would have been nice for the case to come also with a folio for the screen, but we’re asking maybe too much. The case comes with cutouts which grant access to all ports, buttons, including the 30 pin connector.
Unfortunately, there are no removable covers for the buttons for when you are not using them, meaning that dust, dirt or sharp objects can affect parts of the iPad while it’s inside the case. But then again, rarely do we find a case which are both highly functional and 100% efficient when it comes to protection. The case comes without magnets, which is a pretty important detail, as the very sensible sensors and internals of the iPad will not get affected by a magnetic field.
Also, the case can be used as a stand, but there’s only one viewing angle. Now, let’s move to the cool stuff. This is a keyboard iPad case and we should take a look at the keyboard, of course. It’s a blue tooth keyboard, which means you don’t have to connect it to the iPad with cables and stuff.

The blue tooth keyboard is not very big, but you'll get used to it fairly quick
As for size, it’s not a full fledged keyboard, but it’s roughly the same size of a netbook keyboard, so you won’t have any problems typing on it and after a few hours or days on top of it you’ll master it completely.
The keyboard also comes with iPad specific keys, for controlling your media, slide shows and accessing all kinds of functions. We don’t know if this is the best iPad cover with keyboard, but it’s up there, as the keyboard tethering is fine, the keys are precise and it’s easy to set up within the case. The Kensington iPad case with Bluetooth keyboard goes for a reduced price of $59.49 on Amazon, which is a good price if you add all the features up.

You get access to ports- but so does the dust
It’s a lightweight, but sturdy case, can double as a stand and has a blue tooth keyboard for using the iPad like some sort of mini laptop.
All in all, it’s a good buy, as you get all the features once and occupy less space than if you would have three individual accessories.
