Lenovo S200- brand new affordable 11.6 incher (video hands on)
While enough manufacturers are leaving the netbook game behind, others like Lenovo keep believing there’s a nice market to explore and thus they introduced the S200 and S206 11.6 inchers at CES. Mike got a chance to play with one of these new netbooks aimed at a very mainstream- budget conscious demographic and our first impressions are quite positive.
The pink S200 we caught has a plastic finish that’s quite nice to hold, as well as helping Lenovo keep the asking price down for this. The display is quite glossy and comes with a 1366 x 768 resolution, which is kind of standard- would have been nice though is Lenovo would have at least considered a matte panel on this one.
The keyboard will be very familiar to those fooling around with a Lenovo laptop before, as it’s the same type that we’ve had on the company’s machines, namely those square at the top, round at the bottom keys which seem to fit quite good with the shape of fingers.
The track pad is surprisingly large, while the two mouse buttons are not clearly distinct from the touch surface. Another interesting aspect about the netbook is that it’s quite light, maybe even under 3 pounds, and that’s partly thanks to the Cedar Trail hardware, namely the N2800 dual core processor.

The display comes with a standard 1366 x 768 resolution
There’s also 2 GB of DDR3 SDRAM, a 500 GB HDD (you can go for an 32 GB SSD as well), a web cam, stereo speakers and a normal netbook array of ports, including USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, while the minimum battery should last for around 4 hours.
The S206, on the other hand, will ship with an AMD Fusion C-60 APU, and in rest has quite the same features as the S200. Both netbooks will ship in June for at least $349. Stay tuned for our hands on video with the S200. Enjoy.
