Mobinnova Beam, one of the first netbooks with Nvidia Tegra
You might not have heard about Mobinnova till now, but you’ll surely hear quite a lot of them and their Beam mini notebook model in the next months.
Because this is not an ordinary device, but a small computer that promises good performances, ultra-light weight, fast boot-up time and stellar battery life.
This device will be one of the first built on the Nvidia Tegra platform, that uses ARM-processors and offers very good graphic performances.
Since it doesn’t come with ATOM processors, some might not call the Mobinnova Beam a netbook, but a smartbook; these are just names, what really matters is what can this device do. Cause in terms of looks, you can see from the pictures how small and slim will this 8.9 inch device be.

Mobinnova Beam - Slick Smartbook on Nvidia Tegra
Since it uses the Tegra, this mini notebook will be able to run 720p video easily, and later on, once Flash 10.1 gets out, will handle HD Flash video also (something that most netbooks can’t right now). It can run for up to 10 hours on video playing and even up to 24 hours of continuous music playback.
However, there’s a catch. The Beam will use Windows CE, which is a low powered operating system made for ARM processors. So, while it won’t offer the features of Windows 7, will still be a decent multimedia device capable of music/video playing, web-surfing, editing texts, etc .

Mobinnova Beam
Mobinnova plans to officially launch the Beam early next year at CES 2010. There’s no word on pricing yet, but since it will come with integrated 3G, i’m pretty sure the Beam will be available with 1 or 2 years contracts for pretty affordable prices . Mobinnova announced more details for CES, so we’ll just have to wait till then.
