More details on Asus 1201N power-netbook

I told you before that Asus is planning to launch a new line of bigger 12.1 inch netbooks and their first versions will be the powerful 1201N and the more mainstream 1201HA.

The EEE PC 1201N uses the Nvidia ION platform, so it packs the:

Asus 1201N - 12 inch netbook, extra power

• Intel ATOM N270 CPU and the Nvidia GeForce 8400M graphic board
• 2 GB of RAM
• 250 GB hard-drive (and probably some significant online storage too)
• Wi-fi N, Bluetooth, 3xUSB, Ethernet, HDMI
• 6 Cell battery (11 hours autonomy on paper)
• Windows 7 Home Premium

The increased graphic performances (that’s around 8-10 times better than the one of a standard netbook with Intel GMA 500) will allow the 1201N to properly run Windows, videos (including 1080p content) and even some 3D games. What i also like about it is that, because of the increased size, Asus managed to squeeze a full size keyboard in there that should be a lot more comfortable than most other keyboard used on netbooks.

This device is not yet available in the US but we should see it pretty soon. It will most likely retail for around $500 and I’ll update this post once i spot it somewhere.

Like i told you, Asus also offers EEE PC 1201HA, the one without Nvidia ION and lower performances, that will retail for around $400. You can read more about this model in here.
