More details on Asus’s Eee PC T101MT tablet netbook
Although the folks at Asus announced their are not going to proceed with developing new devices, like ebook readers and touch tablets, in the first part of this year, they did unveil more details about their Asus EEE PC T101MT tablet netbook at CES 2010 .
After being first seen last year at CES, we were expecting for this 10 inch tablet to be launched last year. However, this bigger brother of the 8.9 inch T91MT from Asus was delayed, and hopefully we’ll be able to find it in stores in the next couple of months.
The showcased T101MT received some upgrades from last year’s version, now hosting Intel’s PineTrail platform inside, with an Atom N450 processor, 1 GB of RAM and 160 GB hard-drive. It comes with a 10.1 inch resistive multi-touch display and will probably use Windows 7 Home, as the Starter Edition does not support multi-touch .
There’s also a 35WAh battery that should provide enough juice for up to 6 hours of life.

Asus T101MT tablet netbook - once again showcased at CES
All in one though, i can’t say i’m impressed by this new version of Asus’s T101MT. Hardware is kind of poor, although there will improved versions with 2 GB of RAM and better storage. Still, all these for a year’s worth of waiting? Come on. Not to mention that last year, when they announced it, the idea and the concept were innovative. This year however, when compared with all the products and technologies other producers showcased, i doubt this gadget will anyone’s attention.
Not to mention that there’s still no word on pricing (but since the 8.9 inch version goes for around $500, with one will be even more expensive) or availability from Asus for this T101MT model. Hopefully we’ll hear more news soon, but i’m starting to doubt we’re going to ever see this device in stores at all. Stay tuned for more info.
