More hands-on time with Notion Ink Pixel Qi tablet
Notion’s Ink touch tablet device with Pixel Qi technology inside was one of the hottest devices at CES this year. Hands on videos and impressions with the device are still getting out, but this one from Charbax is definitely one of the best, showcasing most of the features of the product.
There are some things i noticed from the clip and are worth mentioning:
- on black&white mode, changing between pages is a lot more quickly and smoother than on eInk devices, like Amazon’s Kindle reader .
- in backlight mode (color display), quality is pretty good, almost the same as on regular LCDs (i’m still waiting to see a movie playing on this display though, as refresh rates are probably pretty low)
- display is touch capacitive (and the first 10.1 inch such screen available at the moment)
- the tablet is powered by ARM Cortex A9 processor + Nvidia Tegra2 and runs Android (will have lots of applications and games)
- gadget has a low profile bezel and when on the market, final products will only be 12-14 mm thick
- no exact data on launch dates or prices (but producers mentioned “prices will make us happy” – that would probably mean prices similar to the Kindle on same screen size)
