MSI WindPad 100/110 – Atom/Tegra powered, with Windows/Android
MSI are joining the touch tablets dance at Computex too, unveiling two new products, the MSI WindPad 100 and 110.
They are made of plastic and feel pretty cheap when compared to the iPad for instance, but this makes them lighter and more affordable though.
The WindPad 100 is powered by an Intel 1.6 GHz Z530 processor and runs Windows 7. There’s a 10 inch multi-touch capacitive display on top and some controls on the side, but the final versions will offer a webcam , USB posts and HDMI output too. The device has an accelerometer and a custom made WindTouch UI which goes on top of Windows and should allow more facile access to all kind of applications specially designed for this slate.

Hands-on impressions (see clip below from Joanna at Engadget) at the show find the WindPad 100 sluggish, but this is just an early prototype, as neither hardware or software are finished right now.
The MSI Windpad 110 on the other hand comes with an Nvidia Tegra 2 platform and Android 2.1 operating system. This one should perform snappier than the 100, but won’t be able to run your daily Windows applications. It also comes with a 10 inch capacitive screen but has a slightly different aspect.

Both these tablets should be available by the end of the year. The WindPad 100 will sell for $499 in the US, while the Android based 110 should go for around $400. More details about them in following posts.
