New Sony Vaio M netbook on the way
It seems the folks at Sony plan to get deeper involved in the netbooks segment, as a new such mini laptop was spotted in some UK shops. Called the Sony Vaio M, this device was not yet officially confirmed by Sony’s representatives. But, we have a couple of info on specs, prices and some pictures of the new device.
On a first look basis, the Vaio M actually looks worse than the Vaio W, no longer having the characteristic chiclet keyboard, but a pretty standard one. However, unlike the other 10 inch series from Sony, this one seems to come with a matte casing and probably a matte display also.

Inside you get the basic PineTrail specs (the W line was also updated to PineTrail), with the 1.66 GHz N450 processor, 1 GB of memory, 250 GB storage drive, 10.1 inch dispaly (1024 x 600 px resolution), Wi-fi N + Bluetooth 2.1 and Windows 7 Starter. Will be available on black or white but there’s no word on battery life yet.
Tesco has the Vaio M on their site right now and is listed for £299 , but is currently displayed as out of stock. So, there’s no exact info when will Sony actually start shipping this device or whether it will come to the US also. For now, the M just seems a matte version of the Vaio W, but we’re waiting for clarifications from Sony and we’ll update once we know more.
