Panasonic CF-R9 Let’s Go raises the bar high in the 10 inch netbooks class

Usually a 10 inch netbook doesn’t excel in terms of performances, as is powered by Intel’s Atom platform. But that’s not the case with the latest Panasonic toy, the CF-R9 Let’s Go netbook, a device that really raises the bar high for the other 10 inch mini laptops, at least in terms of features and performances.

Instead of the classic Atom, this device comes with Core i7 processors, the 1.06 GHz Core i7-620UM or the 1.2GHz Core i7-650UM . ULV processors, but still way better than the Atoms. Besides these, there are up to 4 GB of RAM, up to 500 GB hard-drive (or 128 GB SSD) , good connectivity and Windows 7 Professional as the OS. As for battery, Panasonic only managed to squeeze a 3 Cell one, 3100 mAh, but claim it’s enough for up to 7.5 hours of life. That would be cool, but i sincerely doubt it.

As for the display, the Let’s go will come with a 10.4 inch screen with 4:3 aspect ratio. And that’s not a problem, but the 1024 x 768 px maximum resolution is just not up to the rest of the package.

Anyway, the device is overall impressive. Panasonic plans to release it in Japan only on February 17th. No word on pricing yet, but expect it to be hefty. Also, there’s no info whether this device will be available internationally or not, but even if it will come to the US, i’m not sure how many would be willing to pay $1500+ for it (that’s my guess on the price).
