Samsung and Motorola tablets from Verizon, soon
One more about touch tablets. A recent leak of Verizon’s roadmap for the next period available at Boygeniusreport.com shows some interesting things: besides some smartphones and plans of expansions from the carrier, they will also start offering subsidized tablets. Devices from Samsung and Motorola are mentioned.

Touch Tablets from Motorola and Samsung could be available soon
The Samsung one is supposedly a 7 inch tablet with Android OS and boosting a front-facing camera (for Chatting, Skype and maybe Video Calls as well). On the Other hand, the device from Motorolla is bigger, with a 10 inch display and 1-1.3 GHz processor. So, looks like an iPad competitor, ay? This one will be powered by the future Android 3.0, which was just delayed to Q1 2011. So i doubt we’ll see the Motorola sooner than this time next year, if ever.
Of course, there’s no info on prices or when exactly should these devices be available. However, it’s interesting that one of the biggest carriers in the States plans having such devices in their offer and we’ll be able to get them (probably) with subsidized prices, paired with some monthly plans.
Now, we should not expect all these leaked info to be true. However, there’s clearly a movement towards touch tablets. With iPad’s success, producers, carriers and marketers, they all try using the momentum and push this new types of computers towards us.
So, should we expect tablets to be in 2011 what netbooks where back in 2008? Maybe, although at least in my eyes, while netbooks are useful computers that can even replace your everyday PC/laptop , these touch thingies are not really devices we buy with a purpose, but more because they are cool, hyped and our friends have them too. Don’t you think so?
